Worldskills National Finals

I was very honoured to be a Culinary Judge at this years Worldskills National Finals in Sydney in July of this year. A privilege to see such talented young chefs ready to put it all on the line in the face of such intense scrutiny from the media, judging panel and the general public. All 20 competitors stood shoulder to shoulder with their peers and gained the well deserved recognition of their acheivements not only for the three days of the competition but recognition of how far they have come as the future of our industry. Australia’s restaurants need more of our fine young stars to step up. The winner will go on now to represent Australia at the World Finals being held in Calgary, Canada, next year.

Congratulations go to all competitors. You can see more images of the action, the winners, the tears, the triumphs and learn more about the Worldskills movement if you visit www.worldskills.org.au.

The finals are a biennial event held every two years and fingers crossed the 2010 event is right here in Brisbane. Stay tuned!
